AEG Electrolux Clothes Dryer Drum Roller Wheel

This is a replacement drum roller wheel for AEG, Electrolux and Zanussi clothes dryers. The rollers carry the weight of the drum and let it turn. They are a wearing part. As the plastic tyre wears flat or the bush inside seizes, the dryer becomes noisy, the drum drags and the belt and motor are put under extra load.

When To Replace

Replace the rollers when the dryer rumbles, thumps or squeals while running, when a roller has a flat spot or the plastic tyre has worn down to the hub, when a roller will not spin freely by hand or feels gritty, or when there is black plastic dust inside the cabinet under the drum. Always replace them as a set. Fitting one new roller against worn ones just makes the new one wear quickly.

Fitting

Isolate the dryer at the power point before starting. Remove the panel that gives access to the drum, release the belt tension and lift the drum out. The rollers are held on short shafts by a clip or a nut. Note which way each roller faces, remove the clip, pull the old roller off and clean the shaft. Fit the new roller, refit the clip, then refit the drum and belt and turn the drum by hand to check it runs freely and quietly before restoring power.

Notes

Sold individually. Most of these dryers use two or four rollers. Check how many your model has and order the full set so they wear evenly.
