Delonghi Fisher & Paykel Elba Oven Upper Element

This is a replacement upper element for Delonghi, Fisher & Paykel and Elba ovens. It is the element fitted under the roof of the oven cavity. It provides the grill heat, and on most models it also contributes the top heat during conventional baking. It is a resistance element and it fails by burning through, usually with a visible blister, split or bright spot in the sheath.

When To Replace

Replace the element when the grill will not heat at all, when the oven browns unevenly or takes far longer than it should, when there is a visible blister, split, bulge or bright burnt spot in the sheath, when the element reads open circuit on a meter, or when it has shorted to earth and is tripping the safety switch. An element that has arced usually leaves a scorch mark on the cavity roof above it.

Fitting

This part must be fitted by a qualified electrician or appliance technician. Isolate the oven at the circuit breaker, not just at the control panel, and let the cavity cool completely. Remove the fixing screws holding the element to the cavity roof, ease the element forward and photograph the wiring before disconnecting the terminals. Transfer the connections one at a time to the new element, fit and secure it, then carry out an insulation resistance and earth continuity test before restoring power.

Notes

Check the wattage and the terminal positions of your existing element against the replacement before ordering. These ovens used several upper elements across the range and they are not interchangeable.
