GE Hotpoint Fridge Freezer Evaporator Fan Motor

Genuine OEM evaporator fan motor for GE and Hotpoint side by side and top mount refrigerators. This is the small DC motor mounted behind the freezer rear panel that draws air across the evaporator coil and pushes cold air into the freezer and through the damper into the fresh food compartment. Rated 9.75 volts DC, 3.25 watts. Supplied as the motor only.

When To Replace

Replace the evaporator fan motor when the freezer is cold but the fresh food section is warm, when there is no airflow from the freezer vents, when the fan is noisy, buzzing, clicking or grinding, when the fan runs only intermittently, or when the fan blade will not turn freely by hand. A seized or slow fan causes ice build up on the evaporator coil and rising fridge temperatures even though the compressor is running.

Fitting

Disconnect power at the wall before starting. Empty the freezer, remove the shelves and baskets, then remove the rear evaporator cover panel. The fan motor sits in a bracket at the top of the evaporator housing. Unplug the wiring connector, remove the fan blade retaining nut or clip, release the motor from its mount and fit the new motor with the blade the same way round. Refit the cover, restore power and check for airflow after a few minutes. Fitting should be carried out by a qualified appliance technician.

Notes

This motor supersedes the earlier WR60X10074, WR60X10224 and WR60X10099 numbers and is the current replacement for all of them. Always check the model and serial rating plate inside your appliance against the model list above before ordering.
