Goldstein Eswood Commercial Bain Marie Food Warmer Heating Element 2600W 240V

This is a replacement heating element for Goldstein and Eswood commercial bain maries and hot food display units. It is rated 2600 watts at 240 volts and is the immersion element that sits in the wet well underneath the gastronorm pans and heats the water bath that keeps the food at serving temperature.

Rating

2600 W, 240 V AC, single phase. Confirm the wattage and voltage stamped on your existing element before ordering. A bain marie well fitted with a lower rated element will not reach temperature, and a higher rated element can overload the thermostat and the wiring.

When To Replace

Replace the element when the well will not reach temperature or takes far longer than normal to heat, when the unit trips the circuit breaker or the earth leakage device, when the element reads open circuit or shows continuity to earth on a meter, or when the sheath has split, blistered or corroded through. An element that has been run dry will usually have failed even if it still looks intact.

Fitting

This part must be fitted by a licensed electrician or a qualified commercial catering technician. Isolate the unit at the isolating switch and lock it off, drain the water well completely and let the element cool. Photograph the wiring before disconnecting it. Remove the terminal cover, disconnect the supply and earth, undo the element flange or boss, and withdraw the element. Fit the new element with a new seal, torque the flange evenly, reconnect the wiring in the same order and carry out an insulation resistance and earth continuity test before returning the unit to service.

Notes

Never switch a wet well bain marie on with an empty well. Running an immersion element dry destroys it in minutes and is the most common cause of repeat element failure.
