Its main job is to make sure things don't get too hot and heavy. Once your oven hits 140°C (that's about 284°F), this thermostat jumps into action, cutting off the power to keep everything safe and sound. 

Now, if you start noticing your oven is acting a bit strange – maybe it's randomly shutting off in the middle of baking, or struggling to heat up properly – that's a pretty good sign the thermostat might be on its way out. If that sounds familiar, change it with this part.
