Ilve Oven Door Seal Gasket

This is a replacement oven door seal gasket for Ilve ovens and freestanding stoves. It fits around the oven aperture and seals against the door. A sound seal keeps the heat inside the cavity, which is what lets the oven hold an accurate temperature and brown evenly, and it keeps the door front and the surrounding cabinetry cool.

When To Replace

Replace the seal when the oven takes longer than it used to reach temperature or will not hold it, when food browns unevenly, when heat can be felt escaping around the door edge with the oven on, when the rubber has gone hard, brittle, flattened or shiny where the door presses, when a corner has shrunk away or torn, or when the oven front and cabinetry above the door are getting unusually hot.

Fitting

Let the oven cool completely. Open the door and unhook the seal at each corner or pull it out of its channel, working around the frame. Clean the channel and clip holes of baked on debris. Start the new seal at one top corner and work evenly around all four sides without stretching it, finishing back where you started. Close the door and check the seal is even all the way round with no gap at the corners.

Notes

Ilve used both front fitting and rear fitting door seals across the range and they are not interchangeable. Check which type your oven has, and measure the aperture, before ordering.
