Omega Gas Stove Cooktop Pan Stand Trivet Support Cast Iron

This is a replacement cast iron pan stand, also called a trivet or pan support, for Omega gas cooktops and freestanding upright stoves. It is the cast iron grid that sits over the burners and carries the pots and pans. Cast iron trivets crack when a hot trivet is cooled suddenly, and they chip and rust when the enamel coating is damaged.

When To Replace

Replace the trivet when it has cracked or broken, when it rocks on the cooktop and will not sit flat, when the enamel has chipped away and the cast iron underneath is rusting, or when a foot has worn or broken off so pans no longer sit level. A warped or rocking trivet is a burn and spill hazard.

Fitting

No tools are required. Make sure the burners are off and the cooktop is completely cool, lift the old trivet away and sit the new one in place over the burners so it beds down evenly on all of its feet. Check that it does not rock before using the cooktop.

Care

Let the trivet cool before washing it. Pouring cold water onto hot cast iron is what cracks trivets. Wash by hand with warm soapy water and dry it straight away. Do not put cast iron trivets through the dishwasher, as dishwasher detergent strips the enamel and the bare cast iron then rusts.

Notes

Larger Omega cooktops and freestanding stoves use more than one trivet, and the left, right and centre trivets are often different castings. Measure your existing trivet and compare it against the photograph before ordering.
