Omega Rangehood Aluminium Grease Filter 490mm x 170mm

This is a replacement aluminium mesh grease filter for Omega rangehoods, measuring 490mm x 170mm. It sits in the underside of the canopy and traps airborne cooking grease before it can reach the fan, the motor and the ducting. Unlike a carbon filter it is washable and reusable, and it only needs replacing when the mesh or the frame is damaged.

Suits Omega rangehoods that take a 490mm x 170mm aluminium mesh filter, including model OA412FR. Measure your existing filter before ordering, as rangehood filter sizes vary across the range and a filter that is even a few millimetres out will not seat properly.

When To Replace

Replace the filter when the mesh is torn, crushed or has come away from the frame, when the frame is bent so the filter no longer seats in the canopy, when the handle or clip has broken off, or when the mesh has become so clogged with baked on grease that washing no longer restores the airflow. A damaged filter lets grease straight into the fan housing.

Fitting

No tools are required. Isolate the rangehood at the power point if you prefer. Push the handle or squeeze the clip on the old filter, drop the front edge and lift the filter out of its recess. Wipe out any grease that has collected in the tray. Slide the new filter in at the same angle, lift it up and let the clip engage, then check it sits flat and does not rattle when the fan runs.

Notes

Wash the filter in hot soapy water or on the bottom rack of the dishwasher every few weeks. A clogged filter is the single most common cause of a rangehood that seems to have lost suction.
