Omega Rangehood Control Button Switch

This is a replacement push button control switch for Omega rangehoods. It is the switch behind the fascia that operates the fan speeds or the light. When a button stops responding, sticks down, needs to be pressed hard or repeatedly, or the fan or light will not switch off, this switch is normally the cause.

When To Replace

Replace the switch when a fan speed or the light does not come on, when the button has to be pressed hard or several times to work, when a button stays depressed and will not spring back, or when the fan or light will not turn off. A switch that has arced internally often smells hot or shows browning around the terminals.

Fitting

Isolate the rangehood at the power point or circuit breaker before starting. Remove the grease filters to reach the control fascia from underneath. Note or photograph the wiring on the old switch before removing it, as the terminals must go back in the same order. Squeeze the retaining clips and push the switch out through the front of the fascia, transfer the wiring one terminal at a time, then clip the new switch into place and refit the filters.

Notes

Rangehood control panels usually carry several identical buttons for the fan speeds and one for the light. If more than one button has failed, or if the panel is old, it is worth replacing all of the switches at the same time while the fascia is open.
