| Notes | Heavy-duty commercial grade speaker driver. Cast aluminium frame. Neodymium magnet with 50mmØ copper clad aluminium coil and aluminium shorting ring motor for exceptionally high efficiencies.This is an excellent driver for midrange, even for high efficiency hifi. But not suitable for mid bass. Recommended crossover frequency of 400Hz to 600Hz. NERO-6MRN150D is a midrange driver for special purposes including high efficiency horn and compression loading applications. The high-ish Fs and suspension compliance, as well as very light weight moving mass, makes this driver suitable for midrange reproduction and not bass reproduction. The Vas is simply another way of representing the compliance (Cms) by the equivalent volume of air that would have the same suspension compliance / spring load force excerpted to the speakers. So the very stiff suspension naturally results in a small Vas. Traditional box volume calculations are not that relevant since the driver is not suitable for low frequencies and it is therefore simply a question of using a midrange chamber that is practicable for this size driver. A typical crossover frequency would be 600Hz or higher for high power applications and probably no lower than 400Hz for direct radiating applications. The driver works very well in this sort of situation even though the critically damped box size is suggested to be smaller than what is practical, but we wouldn't be operating at the frequencies where this has much influence on the midrange. Damping material properties and the amount of damping would be important to get right to avoid nasty resonances. Experimentation is advised for damping.
